When a woman says she’s hanging out with “friends,” does that sometimes mean she’s actually on a date?
I’ve noticed that women I meet on apps often say they’re having dinner with “friends” on a Friday night or going hiking with “friends.” Does this usually mean they’re actually going on dates with other guys? Since they’re on a dating app, I assume they might be seeing multiple people, and activities like dinners or hikes are common date ideas. Is “friends” sometimes just a way of referring to other men they’re dating?

Unpopular opinion: from my experience on dating apps (as a guy), when a woman says “I’m going out with my friend,” it’s usually a female friend. But when she says “I’m going out with a friend,” most of the time it’s actually a male friend or a date.
In your situation, I’d guess it’s probably female friends.

Does it really matter? Until you’ve had a clear conversation about being exclusive, it’s best to assume they’re seeing other people.
